Busy July!

It's been awhile since we posted last.  The past month has been crazy.  The girls and I have been taking care of my aunt (their great-aunt) who is 87 and is our last close living relative.  She has been very sick and been in the hospital several times in the past few weeks and has had to go to rehab for a short-stay. Right now she is doing alot better but still has a ways to go.  Also, we've had Bible school at our church.  I taught the 3 & 4 year old class.  It was so much fun and my grandson, Jackson was in my class.  It was his first Vacation Bible School and he enjoyed it so much and learned alot.  The youth at our church helped out in the classrooms this year.  My other grandson, Tyler who is 13, helped in the 1-3 grade class.  We are so proud of him and the young man he is becoming.

We've got a lot of new merchandise in the shop.  One of our favorite pieces that we've got in is a chippy blue very primitive cabinet.  We love, love, love it!

Also, we've gotten in new pottery pieces, some new tarts, room sprays, body lotions, hand wash, and lip balm.  Come check it all out!

NEW PATRIOTIC ITEMS & SPECIAL BIRTHDAY PRESENT

Today, Tammy Wellman came by the shop to deliver some handmade primitive, patriotic items.  She brought a very cute Uncle Sam and some star bowl fillers.  She also, brought two new summer door hangers.  They are filled with geraniums, a black crow and a flag.  After the fourth, take out the flag and use it all summer.  She does such a great job on all her primitives!  And she even brought me a handmade sampler for my birthday.  Thank you Tammy, I love it and hopefully we will have one for the shop soon too!

Garden Decorating Ideas

The girls and I love to go to the Biltmore House.  Last year, we got season passes which more than paid for themselves.  We got to go every season (sometimes twice)!  During the seasons when it is open, our favorite restaurant to eat at is the Arbor Grill.  It is so nice to sit outside and eat with a breeze blowing enjoying being in the mountains...and the food is good too!
In April, we went to see the tulips in bloom and as we wandered through the greenhouse, we got some great garden ideas.  There were rusty, old bicycles with flower baskets on them and also, there were old suit cases filled with flowers.  They looked so good and would definitely go with primitive decorating.

Below you  can see our old tricycle with a basket of geraniums that we put on the big farm table in our shop.  We, also, put an old cosmetic suit case filled with flowers on there too.  We added an old "SEEDS" sign and other gardening items.

Come and check out our store for primitive signs, gardening dolls, and birdhouses.

OUR FIRST BLOG!!!!

Happy Memorial Day weekend!  This is our first blog and we hope there will be many more in the days to come.  We're still learning as we go how to do our blog so be patient with us!  Thanks to Vicky at Green Creek Primitives for her help!

Today, downtown Dallas held a Memorial Day celebration with lots of entertainment, a car show, food, and vendors.  We were open but at the last minute we decided to set up a small table to advertise our shop.  Fortunately, we were able to set up under some huge trees and were in the shade most of the day.  There was a breeze blowing for a good portion of the time, so we didn't get too hot!  The girls and I took turns between the shop and our table.  It was lots of fun and we got to see some old friends and make some new ones too.
